GLITZ, glamour and high stakes were the order of the day – or night – as Helensburgh Netball Club held a casino-themed fund-raiser in the town.
Following hard on the heels of a charity netball match earlier in the day, the club’s players and their partners – some of whom had taken part in the sporting action earlier in the day to help raise money for the Little Wings Foundation – performed a swift costume change, setting aside their sports gear and trainers for sparkly dresses and sharp tuxedos to give a boost to the club’s own funds at the evening event, which saw Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club’s premises transformed for the night into a casino setting worthy of any in Las Vegas.
In a statement on Facebook, a club spokesperson said: “What can we say other than the biggest of thankyous to everyone that came along, gambled, donated, helped out and bought raffle tickets.
“We are absolutely astonished and pleased to announce that we raised £1,450! Thank you once again. We are totally humbled by everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity.”
