A TOTAL of 120 ladies from golf clubs in the local area and across the west of Scotland headed to Cardross recently for the club’s annual open day Tri-Am tournament.

In beautiful weather, and on a course which was in excellent condition, Margaret Kinvig of Helensburgh, along with Dumbarton’s Fiona Leitch and the host club’s Margaret Stirling, won the Harper Trophy handicap prize with a winning net score of 62.

The runners-up were the Milngavie trio of Laura Robinson, Marion Mason and Sandra Sinclair, while the third placed team, also from Milngavie, comprised Mandy Allan, Davina Lavery and Christina Houston.

The scratch competition, for the Hargan Trophy, was won by Laura McGeachy of Haggs Castle, Lorraine Campbell from Cardross and Carradale’s Ann Storm, who recorded a gross 74.

The tournament raffle also saw £804 raised for the Mary’s Meals charity.

A spokeswoman for the ladies’ section said: “Our grateful thanks to the local businesses who donated prizes to the raffle – John MacAuley (Landscapes), Waitrose, Tesco Garage, Lomond Soap, Cardross Newsagent, Pharmacy and Post Office, Caledonian MacBrayne and Dumbarton hairdresser Lynne Cappelli.”
