Rain most definitely did not stop play at Cardross Golf Club when more than a hundred players took to the course for the club’s annual mixed open.

Despite challenging conditions which worsened as the day progressed, some exceptional scores were returned from the field of more than 50 teams.

Iain and Lorraine Campbell won the scratch prize and the Pediani Memorial Trophy with a gross score of 76.

The top two pairs in the handicap prize list could only be separated by their scores over the last six holes; the eventual winners of the Currie Cup were Alex and Kath Brown, ahead of Lynne and Julian MacDonald, with both pairs returning net scores of 70.4.

The handicap section podium was completed by Lorna and Chris Spenser, from Largs and Glasgow, on a net score of 73.4.
