ARDENCAPLE FC’s 2007 team defeated St Peter’s 4-1 at home in their latest match in the Paisley and Johnstone Youth Development League.

Under poor weather conditions Ardencaple started the strongest and scored early through Ross Nikolic.

Caple continued to press St Peter’s, but struggled to find the net – and were punished when the visitors hit on the break and made it 1-1.

The home side survived further pressure from the visitors, and Jack Fleming’s goal gave the hosts a 2-1 lead at the interval.

Caple made a couple of substitutions at half time and were put under the cosh a little as their reshuffled side took a little time to get back into the game, but again the hosts weathered the storm and a second goal from Fleming gave them a bit of a cushion at 3-1 up.

St Peter’s pressed hard in a bid to find a way back into the game, and for a while were putting Caple under all sorts of pressure, but another substitution in the home ranks enabled the local boys to raise their game, and as they pressed higher up the park in the final 10 minutes, the game was finally killed off when Ryan McColl capped a late run into the box with a calm finish.
