CRAIGHELEN Tennis Club's Susan Bell and Sue Black reached the final of the Whitecraigs Scottish Senior Tennis Championships recently.

In their first match in the over-55 ladies' doubles, they beat Frances Rodman and Jean Wilson 6-2, 7-5. The next opponents, Christine Lockhart and Eileen Mills, provided stern opposition for Susan and Sue, but they played really well to come away with a 6-4, 3-6, (11-9 in the match tie-break) win.

In the final, their opponents proved to be the stronger pair on the day. Nevertheless, a really good competition for Susan and Sue.

In the West of Scotland senior players’ over-40s league the Craighelen ladies’ teams have had mixed results.

The first team has played four matches and sit at mid table with one to play, having won one match and drawn another. The second team has played their five matches, winning once.

Lots of players have had the opportunity to play in the two ladies’ teams and have enjoyed their matches.

Similarly, the men’s team, with one match still to play, has found the going tough, with opponents just proving too strong.
