COLD weather forced the postponement of all the Helensburgh and Lomond area’s football and rugby action at the weekend after sub-zero temperatures left pitches across the country unplayable.
Among the call-offs on Saturday was Helensburgh Rugby Club’s away match against Paisley; the Grizzlies will be looking to make the maximum impact on their return to action this Saturday, December 7, when they play host to bottom-of-the-table Uddingston (above).
Kick-off at Ardencaple is at 2pm.
Rhu Amateurs’ Douglas Smith League Cup quarter-final tie at home to Milton AFC also fell victim to the weather; the match has been rescheduled for this Saturday, with a 1.30pm kick-off at Ardenconnel Park, and will go to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

Elsewhere, following the postponement of their away game against Glasgow University A, Helensburgh FC are back on home turf this Saturday when Erskine Amateurs are the visitors to Hermitage Academy, with a 2pm kick-off.
There's also hockey action for both Helensburgh club's on Saturday – Helensburgh's third XI are due to travel to Auchenhowie to play Western Wildcats 5 on Saturday in the club's final fixture of the year, while the ladies of Loch Lomond Hockey Club's first team are preparing to face Troon at Hermitage Academy.
