ERIC Walker skipped Alastair Hope’s team to a dominant victory in the final of Helensburgh Curling Club’s annual McArthur Stanton Trophy knockout competition at Braehead recently.

Team Hope found themselves up against Tim Tindal’s team, skipped by Ewen Baird, on ice which was really keen and very straight, giving both skips a difficult time.

The first four ends were characterised by poor take outs and lucky shots to give Eric a lead of 3-1.

End five, however, was decisive, with Roy Greer producing a lovely double takeout as Team Hope took a four.

The next two ends produced effective draws for Eric and Roy to give a further three.

The last two ends were hard fought by both teams with Walker leading from the front as Team Hope held their nerve to emerge comfortable winners by an overall margin of 10 shots to two.

The trophy was presented to the winners by Jonathan Clinch, representing McArthur Stanton, who have kindly supported the competition again.
