A HUNDRED of Helensburgh’s most intrepid golfers braved the elements over the festive season to participate in the club’s annual Cross Country Scramble competition.

Teams of four attempted to manoeuvre their way around a unique course, involving playing from one tee to a green some three or four holes away, with some unfamiliar obstacles in their way as they criss-crossed the course.

All managed to find their way back before darkness to the warmth of the clubhouse for some post-Christmas cheer.

The winning team consisted of Dom Taylor, Shey Donald, Alan Blackstock, and Graham Crowhurst, who carded a net score of 30.4 to finish convincingly ahead of the chasing pack.
