THE ladies of the Druids Curling Club are looking forward to a return to competitive action following the Christmas and New Year break – after a fun festive challenge brought the first half of their season to a close.
Despite the fun nature of their Christmas bonspiel, competition was still fast and furious, with changes to the normal rules, including ‘no sweeping’ and ‘no talking’ stipulations, adding to the sense of fun.
At the end of a close day’s competition, the winning skip was Elspeth MacLean, with her team of Fiona Thomson and Sheena Clark.

The runners-up were Chris Henderson (skip), Susan Mathieson and Elma Hannah.
Both teams finished on the same number of ‘shots up’, but Elspeth’s team emerged triumphant by virtue of having won more ends.
The Benson Challenge starts the club’s 2020 fixtures this month.
