HELENSBURGH Football Club’s 2008 squad is back – and they're on the lookout for new players.

Following the recent easing of lockdown restrictions, which allowed organised children’s groups to meet again without social distancing restrictions, training sessions have resumed on the all-weather surface at Hermitage Academy each week.

The club is now looking to add new players born in 2008 or 2009 ahead of the squad’s transition to 11-a-side football.

Paul Campbell from Helensburgh FC said: “We have a talented group of kids who currently play in the Paisley and Johnstone District league on a Saturday morning.

"Training is on a Wednesday evening, 6-8pm, at Hermitage Academy.”

Anyone interested should contact the Helensburgh Football Club Facebook page or call Paul direct on 07841 332932.

The Scottish FA's suspension this week of group training for football clubs below Premiership level does not apply to youth football.
