A BRAND new curling season will be starting soon - and a call has gone out from all three curling clubs in the Helensburgh and Lomond area for new players who would like to give the sport a try.
The Helensburgh, Cardross and Druids clubs are all looking forward to getting back on the ice, and have issued an invitation to all local residents to come and give the sport, affectionately known as ‘the roaring game’, a try.
A spokesperson for the three clubs told the Advertiser: “The clubs have arranged practice sessions at the Greenacres Curling Rink in Renfrewshire for potential new members, and would love to hear from anyone, whether they have curled before or not, to participate in one or more of these sessions.
“No special equipment is required. We will have a qualified coach to give instruction, and there would be neither any cost nor obligation for those participating.
“The three clubs, Helensburgh, Druids, and Cardross, provide playing opportunities for all ages, and for both males and females.”
If you would like to participate or explore more about the clubs, these Come and Try sessions, or playing the sport in general, please contact any one of the following club representatives: Robin Irvine, president of Helensburgh Curling Club (01436 675471); Cardross Curling Club’s secretary David Allen (07936 244743); or Susan Mathieson, the secretary of Druids Curling Club (07850 365780).
