Young tennis enthusiasts from Helensburgh and Lomond give their best serve in a bid to win the championship.

Helensburgh Lawn Tennis Club were buzzing with excitement as the annual Inter-Primary Tennis Championship took place as various schools across the area were brought together.

The championship followed the esteemed Davis Cup format, featuring singles and doubles matches across three age categories: P1-3, P4-5, and P6-7.

The competition was fierce but friendly, with just under 100 children participating and representing their respective schools.

The youngest age group, Primary 1-3, saw Rhu Primary School clinch the title, with St Joseph’s finishing as the runner-up.

In the Primary 4 and 5 category, Cardross emerged victorious, followed closely by Arrochar.

The Primary 6 and 7 matches concluded with another triumph for Rhu Primary School, while St Joseph’s again secured the runner-up position.

The accolade of the best overall player was awarded to Cole Madonia, whose exceptional skills and sportsmanship stood out throughout the event.

Alan MacBeath, the event organiser, expressed his delight at the successful turnout and the high level of participation.

He said: "It is such a pleasure to organise these events to give children the stage on which to represent their school and get together with other schools. On behalf of all the coaches, volunteers, and members, I want to say how much we loved having you all at the club.

"Our club should always be a place that serves our community through sport, promoting safe, inclusive, and healthy environments for everyone to enjoy time together. We are committed to continuing these efforts."

The Inter-Primary Tennis Championship served as a prelude to the club's upcoming activities during Wimbledon, which runs from July 1-14.
