Helensburgh Amateur Athletic Club’s under-15 girls group competed in the Scottish Athletics 4x200m relay finals at a packed Emirates Arena on Sunday.

This event was run as a curtain-raiser to the televised Müller Indoor Grand Prix with world class athletes such as Dina Asher Smith, Adam Gemili, Eilidh Doyle and Greg Rutherford.

Also featuring was a world record performance in the 3Km race walk by British athlete Tom Bosworth.

The Helensburgh team of Sarah Mitchell, Jenny Scott, Kyla Dorizon and Lexy Kenhard ran well, and equalled their qualifying PB of 1 min 57 seconds, but against tough competition from all around Scotland they finished just out of the medals.

HAAC coach Daz Murphy said: “The girls had a fantastic morning, warming up and preparing for their race surrounded by some of the best athletes in the world.

“The atmosphere and excitement of the event made it a fantastic day, and it will certainly be one to remember for these young athletes.”
