A HELENSBURGH bowler has qualified for the main and under-25 singles at the Bowls Scotland national championships next month.

Alan Air, 22, who became the youngest ever champion of Helensburgh Bowling Club in 2013, and went on to add to his wins in 2014 and 2016, has once again entered the record books.

On Wednesday of last week he defeated Paul Kane of the Brock BC 21-15 in the under-25 district final, and followed this with a decisive 21-10 win over Colin McIntyre of Vale of Leven BC on Thursday evening in the main gents' singles event.

Alan has also reached the final of the Dunbartonshire Triples with playing partners Andy Sneddon and Eddie Claisse, to be played at Killermont BC on Saturday, July 1.

The national finals take place at Northfield in Ayr from July 24-29.

Alan has also been selected to play for Scotland in the under-25 British Isles Championships in Wales in September.
