Helensburgh Window Display Competition 2013. In the busy Christmas period when the competition between retailers to attract the avid shopper is never more evident, I am fully aware that there is nothing more important than the Christmas shop window. This is a really exciting and fun initiative. As well as encouraging all retailers to participate and make this Christmas really special, this event is a great opportunity to keep the community motivated, inspire the local retailers and reinforce the message , “Let’s Talk Shop”.

From Friday 22nd November until Friday 13th December, members of the public will be encouraged to take a photo of their favourite window display. The winner will not necessarily be the biggest, or the retailer who has spent the most money on his/her display. The winner will be chosen by the best use of the window size available to them. In other words, the public and the judges will be looking for the most innovative and unique display! We all know that Helensburgh Retailers are a creative bunch, so now is their opportunity to prove it. The decision will be based on Public votes. A selected panel consisting of myself from KAY Consultancy, Scott Elliot who is a Professional Window Designer, Brian Murrie, the Manager of Waitrose, Kath Crawford the owner of Stow Away and Vivien Dance, Councillor will count the votes and award prizes based on the majority votes.

The winning shop will be announced on Monday 16th December. Brian Murrie from Waitrose will be hosting the award ceremony. The winning retailer will be the recipient of an engraved trophy to display proudly within their premises, as well as an amazing prize. There will also be a 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

All shops will have posters contained within their window display, and the public will be encouraged to send their photos. The entry forms will be found in Visit Helensburgh and the majority of shops throughout town. There’s a prize for the people who take the time to enter. Three ”Vote and Win” entries by the public will be chosen and will win a fabulous prize.

During the 3 week display, shopkeepers can email a photograph of their fabulous window display to www.helensburghwinterfestival.co.uk. Helensburgh Winter Festival website will be happy to showcase window display photos on their website.
