A memorial service for two young children who drowned after their mum's car plunged into an Argyll loch will be held in Helensburgh this week.

Sister and brother Leia and Seth McCorrisken, aged three and two, were trapped inside the vehicle when it veered off the road and fell into Loch nan Druimnean near Kilmelford.

Leia and Seth lived in the Helensburgh area with their parents, Hazel Lancaster and Neil McCorrisken, until last year, when the family moved to live on the island of Luing, near Oban.

The service to celebrate the lives of Leia and Seth will be held at the Victoria Halls in Sinclair Street this Friday, July 29 at 11am.

All, including children, are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to wear happy colours to the service.

An online donations page set up by Sarah Stopford, a friend of the couple from Alexandria, raised almost £15,000 to pay for the family's funeral costs.

Before closing the JustGiving page Sarah wrote: "Thank you to everyone for the kindness shown. Hazel and Neil are so grateful for the love and support shown to the family.

"The money raised is amazing and this page has restored my faith in my humanity. People are just wonderful."

Hazel, 36, was pulled from the water after her car veered off the A816 and fell into the loch at around 4pm on Wednesday, July 6.

She was taken to hospital in Oban and released after treatment; specialist police divers recovered the bodies of Leia and Seth some five hours after the tragedy.
