THE historic steamship MV Balmoral will be visiting Helensburgh and Kilcreggan this weekend as part of her first programme of Scottish cruises since 2012.

The heritage steamship will be sailing from Kilcreggan at 12.10pm on Friday, September 23, to Dunoon, Largs and Rothesay. The old lady will then be cruising to the Kyles of Bute and Loch Riddon, returning to Kilcreggan at 6pm.

On Saturday, September 24, she calls at Helensburgh on an evening cruise from Glasgow to Cumbrae for the famous Millport Illuminations, leaving Helensburgh at 5pm and returning at 11.10pm.

Saturday’s passengers can either alight at Keppel pier near Millport to explore the town, or remain on board to watch the illuminations from Millport Bay.

Built in 1949, the Balmoral was a consort of the famous paddle steamer Waverley between 1985 and 2012.

Ownership was transferred to a new charity in 2015, and following a £300,000 refit she returned to public cruising in June of that year.
