A HELENSBURGH restaurant has been nominated for recognition by customers in two categories at the Scottish Curry Awards 2017.

Annaya's restaurant on West Princes Street has been nominated for Team of the Year and Restaurant of the Year and the manager is delighted.

Zak Haider, who co-owns and manages Annaya's extends his thanks to the large amount of customers who took the time to nominate them.

He said: "I feel so blessed that the customers nominated us and that they continue to support us.

"We often work late and start early in the morning but the recognition from the customers alone makes it all worthwhile.

"I feel like being nominated by people for two awards means we are doing something right and I am so thankful to everyone who took time to nominate us.

"Hopefully we will go to the awards and do them proud."

The restaurant posted about the awards on their Facebook page and their customers didn't disappoint, placing a large number of nominations.

A message of thanks was posted on their Facebook page once the nominations were announced. It read: "We are very proud to announce that we've been nominated at The 10th Annual Scottish Curry Awards 2017 for Team of the Year & Restaurant of the Year.

"We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone of our customers, friends and family who have supported us since we opened and those who voted for us. To be given this kind of recognition means a huge amount to the team here at Annaya's!

"Whatever the outcome of the Awards, we are very happy to be nominated, so thank you all!"

A team of staff from the Helensburgh restaurant will now head to the awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on April 24 to find out the winners.

Although it hasn't been decided who will go along, the team are delighted with the nominations and Mr Haider is thankful to the staff for all their hard work.

He said: "I feel blessed that we have great members of staff here at Annaya's. They made this place what it is and helped towards us getting the recognition. I can't thank them enough."
