On Saturday, April 29 Mike and Sue Thornley will lead a guided walk at Glenarn (off Pier Road, Rhu) to look, in particular, at the plants collected in China, Burma, India, Bhutan and Tibet over the last 150 years.
There are many historic plants grown from seed sent by plant hunters to Scottish gardens and most have interesting stories to tell. Some are now highly endangered in their countries of origin and others are rare and tender in cultivation.
The garden is full of colour, the best display for many years, with huge, stately rhododendrons covered in blooms while some of the newcomers are flowering for the first time. Meet at the gate at 2.30pm. Normal entry charges will apply.
