PLANS to build a house on a remote site close to the shore of Loch Long are to be decided at a public hearing.
The application for permission for a detached dwelling house on land east of The Nest in Portincaple, near Garelochhead, was considered by Argyll and Bute Council's planning, protective services and licensing committee on Wednesday.
The committee agreed with a recommendation by the authority's planning officials, who said that the application, by Helensburgh resident Susan Smith, should be approved – but that a public hearing should be held before a final decision is made because of the number of objections.
Seventeen objections were lodged with the council, along with six expressions of support.
The objectors cited concerns over drainage, flood risk, tree preservation and the disruption likely to be caused by building work.
