A WOMAN who committed a series of public order offences in Kilcreggan has been locked up after breaching the terms of a community-based sentence.

Angela Jackson appeared in court on Friday, August 11 for a review of a community payback order imposed after she admitted three counts of threatening or abusive behaviour in the village.

Jackson, 54, shouted, swore and threatened two people with violence at Sunnyside Cottages in the village's School Road on June 25 last year.

Then, on September 10, she repeatedly shouted and swore at two neighbours and repeatedly tried to record video footage of them.

And on March 29 this year, at nearby Fairfield Gardens, she stripped naked, shouted and swore at police, refused to put her clothes back on and placed the lieges in a state of fear and alarm.

Jackson, now living at a flat in West Princes Street in Helensburgh, was handed a community payback order after pleading guilty to the charges against her.

Social workers prepared a report on Jackson's progress with the order for a hearing on Friday at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.

But the court heard that since the CPO was imposed, Jackson – who also had an ASBO taken out against her by Argyll Community Housing Association, banning her from going back to the Kilcreggan streets where the earlier incidents happened – had failed to comply with the terms of the sentence, and had also now assaulted a police officer.

Jackson's solicitor, Tom Brown, told the court on Friday that his client was due to stand trial on September 22 in connection with a separate case, with an intermediate hearing due to be held on August 21.

Mr Brown said he intended to ask for the other cases to be continued to that date next week and to ask that Jackson be released on bail.

But Sheriff Maxwell Hendry replied: “There's not the slightest chance that I'm going to grant her bail today.

“She has not engaged with the supervision process. The report does not consider the supervision process is manageable at all.”

Mr Brown told the court that Jackson had informed him she was getting support from the minister of a local church and from the local housing department.

Jackson also missed appointments with social workers on July 27 and August 1.

Mr Brown said: “ What she tells me is she only received the letter for her appointment on July 27 after the appointment. She tells me that on August 1 she had been taken away by her sister.

“According the report she appears to be less chaotic. If she's slightly less chaotic because of this order that maybe is some sign of progress.

“Somewhere, something good is coming out of it if that's happening.

“She's concerned if she's remanded or receives a custodial sentence today that she loses the flat, because that's homeless accommodation.”

Sheriff Hendry told Mr Brown: “If all that is true, she's still not complying with the court order.

“On August 7 she breached the order and assaulted a police officer. That's the brick wall you're up against.”

Sentence was deferred until August 21; Jackson was remanded in custody until then.
