FLU clinics held at the Vale Centre for Health and Care saw more than £1,000 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan’s Vale of Leven fund-raising committee members trained volunteers throughout the clinics and were on hand to give help, advice and support to anyone attending to ensure than no-one in the area has to face cancer alone.
Macmillan volunteers and friends of Macmillan were on hand to provide tea, coffee and cake during the clinics which were held over the last three weeks and saw £1,237.60 raised from donations, tea and coffee sales and a raffle ticket sales.
The raffle was drawn by practice staff on the last day. Sheenah Nelson, chair of the Macmillan Cancer Support Vale of Leven Fundraising committee, thanked all who donated to the raffle.
She said: “In particular Mrs Nan Wilson who also baked for the event and at the age of 94 is a wonderful supporter of Macmillan.
“We would also like to thank Anne Gillen, health centre manager, and her staff for her help in making this possible and also the GP practice managers at the dental practice within the health centre for their donations of baking and support.”
