HELENSBURGH’S commuters faced major disruption to their railway journeys on Monday afternoon due to vandalism near Partick.

An object thrown across the overhead electric wires caused disruption to all routes between Glasgow city centre and West Dunbartonshire.

Services on the Helensburgh-Edinburgh route began to return to normal from around 4.30pm, though ScotRail advised that delays and short notice disruption were still likely until 7pm.

Trains on the Milngavie-Edinburgh, Dalmuir-Motherwell, Milngavie-Larkhall and Dumbarton-Cumbernauld routes were also disrupted.
