A DRUG dealer has promised “100 per cent” to comply with a community payback order (CPO) he previously broke.

Ciaran Hendry has been languishing in custody for weeks since the CPO was revoked as he was given “time to reflect”, as his defence solicitor phrased it.

Sheriff William Gallacher, at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week, was more blunt that he had to lock up Hendry to ensure reports were prepared on him.

The lawyer said 20-year-old Hendry was “full of contrition” and “extremely keen to engage with social work services”.

Sheriff Gallacher said he’d been promised that before.

Hendry, of James Street, Helensburgh, was convicted of being concerned in the supply of cannabis between August 27 and September 9, 2016, in Suffolk Street, Fraser Avenue, Winston Road and East Clyde Street.

The sheriff said: “You seem keen to participate, which is something we have not heard so far.”

He asked Hendry if he would comply with a CPO and Hendry replied: “Yes, 100 per cent.”

Hendry will be supervised for 12 months and must carry out 110 hours of unpaid work – the number he’d failed to complete on the last order.

The sheriff added: “You know I will not go through this process again. The offence you were guilty of was a very serious matter. You require to deal with that.”

Hendry’s progress will be reviewed on June 29.
