A POPULAR Helensburgh restaurant’s triumph in the Scottish Curry Awards has earned the business praise in the Scottish Parliament.

The town’s MSP, Jackie Baillie, lodged a member’s motion at Holyrood recognising the achievement of Annaya’s, in West Princes Street, who scooped the ‘Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year’ prize at the awards ceremony last month.

Ms Baillie’s motion asks that the Parliament “recognises that this is a fantastic achievement for a local business in Helensburgh; appreciates that the win is particularly significant given that the restaurant was forced to close in 2016 due to a fire; encourages people to visit to try the Outstanding Curry of the Year; and wishes the owners and all of the staff every success for the future.”

The restaurant employs five members of staff.
