The family of a beloved dog are appealing for information after their Cairn Terrier went missing.

Three-year-old Bracken belongs to 81-year-old Mary McShane, from Airdrie in Glasgow.

He went missing while camping in Craigendoran with her son Anthony McShane on Thursday, June 7.

Mary's granddaughter, Marisa Macpherson has been posting missing posters online in a bid to find the pet.

Marisa told the Advertiser: "My uncle was camping so he left him out the tent to go do his business while he went back inside to get his lead and by the time he came out the dog was gone.

"He's never gone missing before but she was a good watch for my gran.

"It's so far away from home that he won't know his way back.

Bracken has black fur and was wearing a red tartan collar when he went missing. He is also microchipped.

Marisa has been in touch with local vets, police and Facebook groups for missing pets, but has heard nothing back so far.

She added: "I posted on a lost dogs page and someone that works for ScotRail went down to check around the train tracks but no one has reported a dog.

"My uncle went down too to look where he was last seen but he couldn't see anything and he asked local dog walkers but he hadn't seen anything."
