Flower power came to Colquhoun Square on Saturday.
A work party organised by Helensburgh Community Council planted a selection of bedding plants to bring a splash of summer colour to the town's centrepiece.
Community councillor John Tacchi told the Advertiser: "We had five community councillors and one wife, an Argyll and Bute councillor and one member of the public in the working party.
"We completed the north east beds by the Sugar Boat and started making certain the weeds don't take over the south east corner beds by the Royal bank of Scotland."
As part of the tidying exercise, a couple of ornamental trees were also trimmed.
John said he was a little disappointed with the turnout as more had been expected to come along and lend a hand.
This was possibly due to the fact that it was very hot and the market was on in the square.
He added: "We intend to carrying on weed suppression and, additionally, will undertake some planting if it rains between now and Saturday next.
"The ground is very dry and new plants will die if they are not watered regularly.
"It's not often we in Helensburgh hope for rain."
The community council was awarded grants totalling £5,000 to help with the cost of planting new shrubs in the square.
Argyll and Bute Council Sustainable Communities Fund donated £2,500 and the same amount was received from Helensburgh Round Table.
