HELENSBURGH and Loch Lomond’s first home league match as a combined concern ended in a 30-17 defeat at the hands of Bishopton on Saturday.
The hosts trailed 18-5 at the break in the West Region Division 3 clash, and despite being reduced to 14 men after a yellow card quickly became a red for a little too much backchat to the referee, the Greens rallied in the early stages of the second half to reduce the deficit to six points with two well-taken tries – only to tire in the final 15 minutes against the impressive visitors.
Next up for Lomond-Helensburgh is a trip to the Glasgow this Saturday, October 1, to face Shawlands. Kick-off at Dumbreck is at 3pm.
