Members of Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group held a successful craft sale and coffee morning recently to raise funds for their upcoming show.
The group are working on a production of Calamity Jane which will take to the stage at Victoria Halls next month.
In order to help meet some of the costs associated with the running of their shows, they take on fundraising activities every year.
Members held a quiz night last month to kick off the fundraising efforts.
Secretary Pauline Forrest said: “It went very well. I think all of our stallholders were very happy with and we took quite a lot from our own baking stall.
“It’s very expensive to put on a show. We have to pay for the hall hire, for rehearsals and performing, and we have to pay for costumes, choreography fees, director fees, and the band.
“It’s expensive so our fundraising is really important to us.
“We have some reserves in the bank but every year we have to fundraise to meet all the costs involved in staging a show.”
Performances of the show will take place from November 2-5, with one performance per evening at 7.30pm and a matinee on November 5 at 2.30pm.
The show follows frontierswoman Calamity Jane and her associate Wild Bill Hickok.
The stage musical was adapted from the 1953 film starring Doris Day.
Helensburgh Savoy’s production will star Emily MacGillivray as Calamity and Michael Doyle as Bill.
Pauline added: “Rehearsals are going really well and we’re not that far away now. We’re all really looking froward to it.”
Ticket prices range from £9-£15 and can be booked here.
