Tennis star Gordon Reid and his doubles partner Alfie Hewett have returned to the top of the men’s world rankings after winning their fourth title of the season in Louisiana.
Hewett reclaimed the number one spot in the rankings from Spain’s Martin De La Puente, with Reid coming in close behind in second place.
It comes after the pair won the doubles title at the Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge on Sunday.
On their way to the final, they saw off Chilean duo Alexander Cataldo and Brayan Tapia 0-6, 1-6, before beating Belgium’s Joachim Gerard and Ruben Spaargaren of the Netherlands 6-7 (4), 3-6 in the semi-final.
The British pair went on to face De La Puente and his Argentinian partner Gustavo Fernandez in the final, sealing a 6-7 (1), 2-6 win – their second Stateside victory in as many weeks.
Reid also went on a promising run in the singles competition, bowing out to the eventual winner, Tokito Oda of Japan, in the semi-final, with a score of 3-6, 3-6.
