A Helensburgh theatre group are gearing up for the “long-awaited return” of one of their most popular fundraisers for the first time in years.

The Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group will be holding their ‘Variety at the Vic’ show - formerly known as ‘Sing For Your Supper’ - on Friday, June 2 at the Victoria Halls.

It'll be the first time the concert has taken place since the pandemic put the group's activities on ice in the spring of 2020.

The event will feature local choirs, orchestras, bands and dance schools and raising funds for mental health charity Jean’s Bothy.

Committee member Euan Forrest said: “Helensburgh Savoy are thrilled to be launching ‘Variety at the Vic’, the long-awaited return of our annual charity fundraiser, formerly known as ‘Sing For Your Supper’ and last held in 2019.

“The format has been slightly updated, along with a rebrand, but will still feature performances from many local choirs, orchestras, bands and dance schools.

“All funds from the inaugural Variety at the Vic are going in aid of local mental health and wellbeing charity, Jean's Bothy.”

Performers this year will include Claire Burns School of Dance, The Dorian Choir, Helensburgh & Lomond Fiddlers, and, of course, the Savoy group.

Jean’s Bothy provide a community hub and host events in Helensburgh that promote wellbeing and mental health awareness.

The Savoy have raised over £35,000 for local and national charities through their decades of fundraisers.

Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 and are available from Destination Helensburgh on Sinclair Street, on the door on the night and online via www.ticketsource.co.uk/helensburghsavoy.
