Helensburgh's top Highland dancers have secured almost 100 awards as Scotland swept across New Scotland.

The Canadian province of Nova Scotia hosted both the ScotDance Canada Championship and Antigonish Highland Games.

And pupils from the Margaret Rose School of Dance (MRD) brought back a staggering 95 prizes from the two competitions.

Helensburgh star Eilidh Gammons won so many trophies they had to leave some behind as they ran out of room.

Amongst them, she was named Canadian Open Champion and Best Overseas Dancer.

Two trophies were also won by Catriona Gammons, two by Isla Flint, Camryn MacIsaac, Kyla McGill and two by Olivia Moffat.

Rachel McVeigh, Lily Dennet, Emma Bancks and Ava Lily King all danced amazing and won awards.

The girls from Helensburgh were gold medal winners for their group choreography.

Their teacher, Margaret MacInnes, said: "That was a huge achievement as we had one dancer in Canada and five in Scotland and we only put it together in Halifax.

"We had a lot of fun in Halifax. ScotDance Canada had almost 1,000 competitors and was really well organised.

"We attended the banquet and the girls enjoyed getting dressed up for it.

"We hired a limo bus to travel from Halifax to Antigonish and had so much fun both ways the girls sung the whole journey.

"The MRDs are a credit to Helensburgh and Scotland and I am so proud of everyone of them."
