An award-winning independent film director is hosting a special Q&A session at a cinema in Helensburgh this weekend.

Ryan Hendrick has recently finished directing his new movie Mercy Falls which he has described as being 'the epitome of a good Friday night at the cinema'.

To celebrate the release of the horror, the Scottish Bafta-nominated director is hosting a special Q&A session for locals to get some inside knowledge into the creation of the film on Saturday, September 16 at The Tower Digital Arts Centre.

Donna Hicks, one of the managers at The Tower, told the Advertiser: "Ryan has local connections to Helensburgh. He started off many years ago at URTV which was based at the Tower.

"He contacted us and asked if we would consider putting the film on. It wasn't in our radar at that point, but we looked into it and were able to secure the film. We thought given the local connection it would be an incredible opportunity to do a question and answer session."

The cast of Mercy Falls includes Outlander star Lauren Lyle, and focuses on a group of friends who travel into the Highlands in search of a secluded cabin – but things quickly go wrong.

And Donna explains that the Q&A session is one not to be missed.

She added: "We made sure the film has prime slots on those days. We really hope that local people come and get behind it. I know that horror isn't everyone's genre, but it does sound like something worth seeing.

"We are always keen to have the support of the local community. We are also incredibly thankful that we have been given this opportunity to host a session like this in our town - so it is an event people should keep their calendars open for."

The film will be shown on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16 at 7.30pm with the exclusive Q&A session following it.

It will also be shown the following week at 4.30pm on Friday, September 22 and 7,30pm on Saturday, September 23.
