PEOPLE in Helensburgh are being asked to give their backing to one of the UK's biggest cancer support charities at an event in the town.

The Bethesda Christian Fellowship in Colquhoun Street is holding a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday, October 7.

The event is open to everyone in the community – not just members of the church.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning is an annual initiative which encourages communities across the UK and around the world to raise money for the charity.

Money from each coffee morning will go towards Macmillan nurses, the charity’s support line, respite breaks for families, and more.

Last year, coffee mornings held around the country raised more than £12 million – a target the charity hopes to beat this year.

The official date of this year’s event is Friday, September 29, but coffee mornings can be held at any time of the year.

The Bethesda event on October 7 runs from 10am until 12 noon, and all are welcome.

Support and information are available via Macmillan’s support line, which can be contacted on 0808 80 80 000, seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
