Organisers of a second-hand clothes sale in Rhu were delighted after raising £400 for their local church tower.

The second ‘Ladies Nearly New Clothes Sale’ took place on Saturday, October 14 at the Rhu and Shandon Church and saw plenty of people through the doors browsing the clothes rails.

The church previously held clothing sales before the Covid-19 pandemic, with the first event in April this year being the first since lockdown.

Gay Black, one of the organisers, told the Advertiser: "We normally have two of these Ladies Nearly New Clothes Sales a year, so for our first one back since the Covid pandemic we raised over £1,000 and this time we have raised over £400.

"We are hoping it will be more than that because one of the ladies is going to take some of the clothes and sell them on Vinted.

She continued: "We are needing the money for the church tower which needs £50,000 spent on it to fix it. So, we have a long way to go but we will carry on hosting these events until we have reached our sale.

"We were very delighted with what we have raised. Every little helps and we will continue to hold these events on a twice-a-year basis until we have raised all the money needed for our church. The more people we can get over our threshold the better."
