Members of the Helensburgh Fire Service are inviting locals to come along to their charity car wash to help raise funds for a vital organisation.
The event will take place at Helensburgh Fire Station on Saturday, March 16 from 10m to 3pm and will benefit The Fire Fighters Charity.
The effort comes as part of the charity’s Mega March Car Wash Campaign and hopes to help the organisation reach its goal of 50 car wash events in Scottish fire stations.
Local watch commander Derek Robertson said: “Red Watch Helensburgh have taken on responsibility for this and with help from some volunteers we are hoping to raise as much as possible for the charity as some of the members of the watch has had to use the benefits of the charity over the years.
“Helensburgh Deli have very kindly offered to feed and water all volunteers on the day, which is great as we have the community involved with different aspects of the fundraising.”
Formed in 1940 during the Second World War, The Fire Fighters Charity originally aimed to support families of firefighters who had died during the Blitz.
Now, the group supports the physical and mental health of current and former firefighters as well as their families.
The charity also offers a 24/7 crisis line on 0300 373 0896.
