A KNIFE crime accused smashed the glass panelled front door of a house in Port Glasgow with a blade before threatening two men inside, it is alleged.

Edward Glancy - who is facing a trial before a sheriff and jury on the indictment matter - is also accused of vandalising a wall and a car at the property on Stroma Avenue.

Glancy, 49, is said to have shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence towards the alleged victims.

Prosecutors say he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm on September 25, 2022.

Glancy - who is currently remanded in custody - is further accused of repeatedly striking a garden wall with the knife.

Prosecutors say he ripped off concrete slabs causing damage to the wall before maliciously using the blade to strike a front tyre of a Vauxhall Insignia car.

The Crown alleges that Glancy breached a 7pm-7am night-time curfew imposed as part of a bail order in October 2022 by failing to remain within his home just more than a week after the directive was issued.

He is also accused of failing to appear for a hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court on February 20 this year.

Glancy pleaded not guilty to a total of seven alleged offences through his solicitor Amy Spencer at the latest calling of matters.

Sheriff James Varney has scheduled a three-day trial for the week commencing June 24.
