HELENSBURGH’s area organiser for Poppy Scotland has extended her thanks to everyone who made the 2016 poppy appeal in the area such a success.

Almost £7,000 was raised in Helensburgh and the surrounding area as a result of the appeal.

Sarah Hodgson said: “On behalf of Poppy Scotland I would like to thank the local community and those who helped to make the 2016 Helensburgh Poppy Appeal such a success.

“Poppy Scotland has now informed me that the total amount collected for the Helensburgh area is £6,910.56.”

Previous years have also been very successful in the area and were headed up by Irene White. Sarah thanks Irene for her continued support.

She also extended her thanks to the Army cadets, Sea Cadets and those in the British Legion who committed their time to street collections. Sarah added: “I would also like to express gratitude to those volunteers who show their support annually, including those involved behind the scenes organising refreshments for our volunteers and those who joined us for the big count.

“Finally thank you to all of the schools, pubs, shops and local businesses, as without their help the Helensburgh Appeal would not be so successful year on year.”

Sarah is keen to improve on the success year on year and welcomes any suggestions or ideas people have in relation to the appeal. Sarah Ruthven is thanked for her assistance and guidance throughout the 2016 appeal also.
