A ROSNEATH firm has won a new contract to maintain lighthouses, fixed lights and buoys around the Clyde and Western Isles.
Gareloch Support Services (GSS) Ltd will inspect, service, repair and supply 'aid to navigation' systems operated by Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) for the next five years, with the option to extend for a further three.
GSS will work closely with CMAL’s harbour master, David McHardie, and the harbour operator, CalMac Ferries Ltd, to maintain the systems.
Mr McHardie said: “We are delighted to appoint Gareloch Support Services to maintain our navigational aids and moorings.
"Gareloch Support Services have the experience required and knowledge of providing these services in the west coast of Scotland and the Clyde estuary.”
CMAL awarded the contract in compliance with the International Association of Marine Aids (IALA) Guideline No. 1077, which requires marine services to maintain systems and provide public and roll on and roll off ferry moorings and tidal staff gauge boards to sustain a reliable service and provide information to mariners.
