TWO community groups in Helensburgh have made an urgent appeal for help from anyone who can provide them with storage facilities for their essential equipment.

Helensburgh Theatre Arts and the Savoy Musical Theatre Group have both been asked to remove their materials from a 30-foot storage unit in the Colgrain area because the container’s owner is planning to move away from the area.

Alison Holliman, the chairman of Helensburgh Theatre Arts, said: “The owners have been very kind in letting us have the unit rent-free for a number of years, but we now don’t have enough storage space for our sets, props and staging equipment.

“Both ourselves and the Savoy are looking as a matter of urgency for someone who can offer us dry, preferably free storage space that’s tall enough to take our stage flats.

“We think it’s probably only going to be a matter of weeks before we have to move our materials from the unit.”

The clubs also make use of storage containers sited behind the Victoria Halls in Helensburgh, but those are not large enough themselves to accommodate all the equipment stored at the Colgrain unit.

Anyone who can point the two groups towards suitable alternative storage space can contact Alison on alison.holliman55@gmail.com or (01436) 673187.

Helensburgh Theatre Arts is in the early stages of planning this year’s Christmas pantomime, Alice In Pantoland, while the Savoy will perform Sister Act: The Musical in November.
