The charity’s biggest annual fundraiser takes place up and down the country and around the world wherever British Forces are based including Afghanistan, Canada, Germany, and Cyprus.

The event sees people get together with family, friends and colleagues for a cup of tea and a slice of cake and all the money raised goes towards SSAFA’s vital work supporting both current and former members of our Armed Forces and their families.

This year’s Big Brew Up Week will be held from October 6-12 however, local SSAFA Committee will be rolling out the bunting and putting their baking skills to the test to offer friends, neighbours and colleagues a tea drinker’s dream Big Brew Up on November 3 at The Families Centre, Churchill.

Tracey Megson, fundraising officer, told the Advertiser: “Taking part in the Big Brew Up is a great opportunity to raise money for the incredible work that SSAFA do, and it is great fun too! It’s a really great feeling to know that we’re joining thousands of people across the world from Afghanistan to Cyprus and Germany to Britain, to raise a mug or cup to our servicemen and women. They do such an amazing job and we’re thrilled that we can show them our support through the Big Brew Up.” For more information on Traceys’s event or to find out how you can register for your own visit www.thebigbrewup.org.uk or call 0207 463 9359.
