The festival shopping event will take place on Saturday, December 6 in the Victoria Halls and it will mark the calumniation of more than two years’ of fundraising by the parishioners of the Colquhoun Street Church to pay for new church halls.

More than three years ago, St Columba Church and The West Kirk joined to form St Andrews Kirk. This union facilitated a new vision to open the church doors to the community and provide contemporary facilities, open seven days a week, giving everyone 'a place to be’.

The new halls, which will be used by families, as a child contact centre, and for fitness classes such as badminton.

It will also act as a meeting place for community and church groups and will provide a place for music, young people’s clubs, coffee mornings, lunches, or simply a secure place to meet.

Construction started earlier this year and now St Andrews Kirk are at the final push of a long road for the remaining funding needed deliver the church’s vision - and facility - to the community.

The Grand Christmas Bazaar to be held at the Victoria Halls on Saturday, December 6, from 10am to 3pm.

Scores of the church congregation have been working for months to provide a fun, happy and valuable experience to all who come.

Entry, for adults is £1, 50p for children, and this qualifies the ticket payer to free entry to the raffle for a wonderful Hamper worth more than £100.

There will be stalls offering plants, games and toys, toiletries, treasures old and new, jewellery, accessories, paintings and more.

There will also be a tombola, bottle stalls, raffle trees, lucky dips, and games such as guess the weight of cake.

Children can have their face painted and Christmas shoppers can also refuel by capping off their visit with a coffee, a snack, or a light lunch.
