Loch Lomond and the Trossachs is one of thirteen finalists, including the Lake District and Snowdonia, in contention for the 2014/2015 title.

The 720 square miles of unspoilt landscape includes lochs, mountains, forests, and glens and attracts millions of visitors to Scotland every year.

Members of the public can register their votes online via the Countryfile website until January 31 and winners will be announced in the April issue of BBC Countryfile Magazine. The fourth year of the Awards include another 13 categories which incorporate a further 8 Scottish finalists.

He added: “I hope that as many people as possible who live, work in or have enjoyed a visit to this fantastic area will show their support by voting for it to be names National Park of the Year.”
