Phyllis Fullarton, who helped organise the event – in which members of the club served up a range of soups and home bakes – said an enjoyable time was had by all who attended.

She said: “We had a super raffle and obviously a selection of soups and coffees and cakes enjoyed by all. It was well supported by people out with the tennis club as well, we had an elderly lady who turned up by herself so that was good to see.” Helensburgh Tennis Club hold a number of events throughout the year raising money for Marie Curie and Christian Aid.

The next event will be a tennis tournament which will be held in June in aid of Marie Curie cancer care.
