Lampposts in Sinclair Street are still to be removed, and in the meantime there are loose chippings and tar around the poles making the new pavements look unsightly.
Dr Jim Greaves sent in the photos of the tarmac and loose chippings surrounding the poles.
A spokesman for Argyll and Bute Council said it was waiting on Scottish Power to remove the poles, and following that the work would be finished.
It is expected once the poles are removed, granite slabs will be put down to match the existing pavement.
The spokesman said once Scottish Power remove the old lighting columns – which are now not used after new lights were installed as part of the work – which Maclays would finish.
