As reported in the Advertiser earlier this month, plans have been submitted to refurbish 24 homes at Jutland Court.
The houses have lain empty for several years, and plans were submitted to bring them back to life by renovating the flats.
Proposals included replacing the windows and doors, re-roofing the houses, and to carry out other external works.
As part of the plans, developers also seek to alter the access to the area, which would double the amount of existing parking from 19 to 38 spaces.
The former MoD housing has been branded an ‘eyesore’ by the objector.
However, an objection email was sent to the council last week, with the objector claiming vermin forage in the area, birds nest in the empty homes, and the properties will not be able to be renovated due to the state they are in.
They wrote: “It is infested with pigeons and other birds nesting.
“In my humble opinion they are not in any fit state to be ‘renovated’ but should instead be demolished.
“It will cost an absolute fortune to reinstate these properties to a habitable condition.” The objector claims the site has become ‘a disgusting state’, and that the area has become a dumping ground.
They also claim the property value in a nearby street has fallen because Jutland Court is still standing, and because it is ‘disgusting’.
The objector added that it was ‘not uncommon’ to see vermin like rats around the site foraging.
One of the site owners did not respond to the Advertiser’s request for comment at the time of going to press.
