The event, which was organised by Community Champion for Tesco Cheryl Smith, was held at the Sinclair Street store. Around £710 was raised towards Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation as Tesco have a partnership with the two charities.
Staff dressed up in their rock gear and shook buckets to collect money as well as doing fund raising bag packs.
In addition, there was a Guess the Teddy’s Age competition and a raffle, in which lucky customers bagged a hamper containg food and alcohol, a £30 Tesco voucher and other prizes.
Ms Smith told the Advertiser: “We raised £710 which was amazing.
“It was fantastic that we managed to raise so much from such a small store and it was really great we were able to give that amount.
“The public were fantastic, they were very very supportive and are always supportive of things we have got going on in the store.” Ms Smith said there were more fundraising events planned for the future with details of these to be confirmed.
