New members of staff have joined the school on a permanent basis – with two new teachers in both the religious and moral education department and the maths department.

The new faces in the religion department, Mr Morrison and Mrs Tait, both previously worked in East Renfrewshire, with Mrs Tait also working in schools in Renfrewshire. Mr Christie, one of the new members of staff in maths, previously taught in St Peter the Apostle High School in Clydebank, and Mrs Savage joins Hermitage having worked in Rutherglen’s Trinity High School.

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) has also changed, following on from the retirement of Bob Cassells and promotion of Julie Fisher before the summer. The new SLT at Hermitage consists of head teacher, Geoff Urie and five depute head teachers (DHT).

Kirsten Muir is now DHT with responsibility for P7 Transition and S1. She is the child protection co-ordinator and is in charge of supporting learners.

The former head of S5 and S6, Annette Trevelyan, is now the Head of Operations and is responsible for administration and organisation. In addition to the new look SLT there have been other changes in staffing in the school. Following the promotion of Marie-Claire Futamata to DHT in Ardrossan Academy, Kim Fletcher has been appointed as the new Guidance Teacher with responsibility for S5.

Mr Urie, head teacher, said: “We look forward to working with our new colleagues and with colleagues who have new roles and new responsibilities here in Hermitage Academy.

“The new session promises to be busy and full of challenge however I am sure that all members of the school community are committed to doing their very best and aiming to achieve the maximum they possibly can.”
