Clydesdale V..............3

Loch Lomond I..........3

LOCH Lomond’s first team played out a high scoring draw away to Clydesdale in their first game of the year on Sunday, while the second team had their game cancelled due to the weather.

Coach Anne McGregor had three late call-offs to contend with and had to re-jig the team on the day.

Being the first game in the second half of the season, the Loch Lomond players were all rusty to start with.

However, as soon as the whistle blew everyone went out and gave it their best shot.

The opposition were very strong, skilful players who have been working throughout the winter playing indoors, this gave them good match sharpness.

Loch Lomond fought hard and got a well-deserved goal early on in the game from Lexxi Clarkson, which gave the team some encouragement.

Josie Sclater worked well in midfield making some excellent runs down the right.

Just before half-time Loch Lomond were awarded a short corner, which went out from Rosie McColgan to Vanesa Sabala who cleanly struck the ball into the net.

Half time score was 2-2-despite a very questionable goal for the opposition.

Loch Lomond defenders thought the ball wasn’t over the line but the goal stood.

After an encouraging team talk, Loch Lomond started the second half with their heads high and were all determined to push for a win.

The visitors worked round the Clydesdale defence as best they could and set out with a new tactic to closely mark their playmaker in order to open up more opportunities in front of goal.

Some strong clearing from the back by Melissa Bannerman and great control from Sabala in the midfield kept Loch Lomond in the hunt.

Both teams got on the scoresheet and the match ended with a 3-3 draw.

This was a well worked game from both sides and Loch Lomond felt with a bit more time they may just have won the match.

Player of the match was Josie Sclater, runners up were Vanesa Sabala and Lexxi Clarkson.

Opposition Player of the match was awarded to Rosie McColgan.
