Rhu Amateurs 4

Rothesay Brandane 0

RHU Amateurs continued their recent good form with a convincing win against a young Rothesay team at the weekend.

The home side dominated the game from start to finish against their inexperienced opponents and should have won by a greater margin.

Rhu forced Rothesay back from the start and quickly went into a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes.

The first came when Adam McCulloch broke through on the right and laid the ball back to Sean Mitchell, who fired home.

It was two when Mitchell returned the favour as he put McCulloch through on goal and the big striker made no mistake.

Rothesay were working hard and trying to get in to the game but they were making no impression on a strong Rhu defence.

Rothesay’s goal keeper had made a couple of good saves before Rhu made it three and it was McCulloch again who found himself in on goal, this time from a Gary Stilwell pass, and again he made no mistake.

Half-time arrived with Rhu three to the good.

The second half started with Rhu on top again and 10 minutes in it was four. After some good play on the left, Stilwell found Patrick Scullion at the edge of the box and his first-time shot found the bottom left corner.

With the game now won, Rhu seemed to lose their way for a while. The home side gradually took control again but were unable to add to their score.

Rhu: Grindlay, Kemp, Johns, Hanley, Willis, Mitchell, Rennie, Scullion, McCrea, Stilwell and McCulloch. Subs: Alden and Mulholland.

Rhu are away to Viewfield Rovers on Saturday in a league game (2pm).
